In 1996, I decided to leave WCW wrestling for WWF (WWE).  I left the “Johnny B Badd” character to become “Wildman  Marc Mero”. Eventually I was “Marvelous Marc Mero”. I won a WWF tournament by beating the super-stars, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Owen Hart and Farooq to become Intercontinental Champion.

In January of 1999 my father, “Happy” (“Hap” for short), was diagnosed with cancer. He was a man that fought so bravely. He never complained or wanted anyone to feel sorry for him. I can only pray that I will be that courageous when it’s my time to leave this life. My Father also died from years of smoking. Please don’t smoke.....

In May, my sister Jodi and I flew in to Buffalo. We stayed at his apartment while he was in the hospital. We visited him every day and spent hours just talking. His nickname “Happy” was perfect for him. What a happy person he was.  On June 2, 1999, we received a call at 6:00AM from the nurse. She said dad wanted us there as soon as we could make it.

Jodi and I hurried in his car and drove the 20 minutes to the hospital. When she pulled up front, I just jumped out of the car and ran into the hospital.  I entered his room climbed in his hospital bed and just held him. Dad was gone as I held him in my arms. I remember whispering to him,

“Daddy please don’t go”.

I retired from wrestling due to numerous injuries. I want to thank my  family, friends, fans and everyone that had a part in helping me to achieve an awesome career.

If I may, I’d like to conclude with a personal wish for all of us.

“May The Best Start Now!”

My First Decision of the Day

When I wake up every morning, I give myself a choice as to what kind of day I’m going to have. I say to myself, “Marc, are you going to make this a good day or a great day?” I always answer, “I’m going to make this a great day!”

I really believe that every person has the power to make that decision and to make it happen. Of course there will be challenges and disappointments during the day but you can deal with them and take the high road. I am given this day on the beautiful earth, why should I let someone or something take my positive mental attitude away from me and ruin this day? The answer is that I’m not going to let that happen. If and when something unpleasant happens, I’ll deal with it and hopefully have a little fun trying to solve it. Then I’ll move on to looking at the bright side of things.

In August of 2007 I founded Champion of Choices. I have found my passion in life!

I often wonder how can it get any better? Then I visit a school and see the

difference our team is making in students lives.

I love life and I’ll do everything that I can to enjoy it every moment of every day.

Enjoy..... Marc Mero

The reason I decided to write this is that I have learned so much through tragedy. We all will have to go through it in some form or another. My dad was 70. My mom was 58. My brother Guy was 21. My sister Andrea was 21.

I appreciate Life so much. I am blessed and I look forward to help, inspire and motivate others. Every day I have a choice as to whether I am going to have a good day or a great day. I choose to have a Great Day!
